Ontario: Take Action : Stamp Out Contraband Tobacco
August 4, 2010
"Cheap, illegal contraband tobacco is a cancer risk. Tobacco is responsible for 30% of all cancer deaths and 85% of lung cancer deaths. Tobacco use continues to be the leading preventable cause of death. Contraband tobacco is widely available and can be purchased for as low as $10 - $15 for 200 cigarettes. Cheap tobacco encourages smoking, especially among youth. In 2007-2008 1 in 4 smokers purchased contraband products. As smoking rates have ceased declining several years ago and have flattened at 20%; contraband is a big part of the problem. Tell your MPP that we need to stamp out contraband tobacco today
Fill in the below information and send a letter to your MPP encouraging them to support stamp out contraband tobacco!"--from website.
